New mullions and transoms for Comar 6EFT curtain walling

Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems have launched additional new aluminium mullions and transoms for their innovative Comar 6EFT Aluminium Curtain Wall system, with the highest Ix and Iy values available on the UK market today.  Demands from aluminium systems fabricators like Hazlemere Commercial for larger transom spans in excess of 3000mm and unsupported multi-storey mullions are now a possibility.  Where there are different glazed areas in the same envelope Comar have also extruded high span mullions and transoms in the most popular box sizes, which mean that the same box size can be used throughout the project to ensure that all fixing and plaster lines throughout the facade are continuous.

Aluminium as a unique material offers today’s design requirements for complex building styles and attractive aesthetics the unique advantage of easily being extruded and manufactured into almost any custom shape with ease.  With the current focus on energy efficiency, modern designs must also take into account ‘thermal’ criteria and thermal breaks are incorporated.  These thermal breaks between the interior and exterior aluminium profiles provide a significant decrease in the thermal conductivity of the curtain walling.  The science of curtain walls now means that aspects such as thermal expansion and contraction, building movement, water diversion and thermal efficiency for cost effective heating, cooling and the lighting of a building are nowadays already often built in to the system and its design.

With its exceptional design flexibility, Comar 6EFT provides high performance solutions for Hazlemere Commercial’s clients for both new build and refurbishment façades. It is a highly flexible system that provides bespoke solutions for aluminium fenestration designers, manufacturers and installers like Buckinghamshire based Hazlemere Window Company Ltd. Comar’s 6EFT delivers capped curtain walling with 50mm standardised sightlines.

The system is pressure equalized, mullion drained ensuring water drains freely to the outside. Comar 6EFT has undergone rigorous tests for the latest BS and EN standards at Taywood Engineering Ltd in the UK., with exceptional results: Air Permeability – Class AE 750, Water Tightness – Class RE 750 and Wind Resistance – 2400 Pa, Safety 3600 pa.
