Unusual for a school refurbishment project, this entire replacement double glazed commercial casement windows programme was carried out during term time. This required very close liaison with long time clients Bucks County Council, but especially with the Management and staff at Millbrook Combined School.
The replacement aluminium windows installation was commenced by Hazlemere Commercial on 20th June 2016, and was done in four distinct pre-planned phases, so that the disruption to the school’s operation was kept to a bare minimum. Following a special request from the school, many of the replacement commercial windows required to use of some noise to remove the existing worn out non-thermally broken windows, so the work on these windows did not commence until later in the afternoons, reducing any potential distractions for pupils from their studies.
Hazlemere Commercial manufactured and fitted a total of 116 thermally broken 75mm deep white powder coated replacement aluminium casement windows with a polyamide thermal break to the entire front elevation of each the main school buildings facing the main road, meaning Millbrook School have been able to make saving on their heating bills ever since the work was completed on 15th July 2016. In addition, the replacement double glazed windows, with argon filled sealed units, compared to the previous windows, have reduced the traffic noise from Mill End Road, providing the opportunity for the school children in these classrooms to concentrate better on what they are being taught.
