Hazlemere Commercial are right in the middle of a £2.5m contract to replace all the 53 year old windows in Merton Civic Centre in Morden. Hazlemere Commercial commenced the windows replacement programme in October 2013 and are on schedule to finish the project by the end of Spring 2014.
Merton Civic Centre has been “encased” by 420 tonnes of scaffolding since May 2013, after an independent glass and glazing consultant deemed the original single glazed steel framed windows as “unfit for purpose”.
As part of the replacement windows contract, Hazlemere Commercial are recycling all the old steel windows, the replacing them with highly thermally efficient aluminium double glazed windows, manufactured from 100% recycled aluminium billet. These new energy saving products currently being installed by Hazlemere Commercial are Sapa Dualframe top swing reversible windows that will enable each window to be cleaned safely and easily from inside the building, with resultant Health & Safety and cost saving benefits.
As a dedicated page on Merton Council’s own website explains these new energy saving double glazed windows “have special thermal glass that will help regulate the temperature of the civic centre throughout the seasons so the temperature of the building should remain consistent.”‘.
