There’s reason to celebrate at Hazlemere Commercial this year as our Marketing Director Mark Austin has been appointed as Chairman of the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) Windows and Doors Group. At the GGF meeting in January, Mark was unanimously elected into this prestigious position. As Chairman of the Windows and Doors Group, Mark will be able to voice Hazlemere’s views, ideas, and concerns at a national level during the quarterly GGF conference.
Representing the glass and glazing industry
The GGF represent companies who manufacture, supply, and install glazing products. With government recognition, the GGF play an integral role in overseeing the implementation of new industry standards. Subsidiaries of the GGF include FENSA and BFRC (British Fenestration Rating Council). Both these well-known organisations ensure windows, doors, and glazing products are made and installed to meet the requirements of energy efficiency and security standards.
One of the main aims of the GGF is to promote best practice across the industry. By promoting its members, it can set high quality standards for all technical glazing specifications and installation practices. This in turn helps to protect homeowners when buying glazing products and services.
The GGF is also involved in local and national politics. Members regularly provide expert advice on industry policy and legislation across the fenestration and wider construction industry. Through the GGF, the glazing industry is given a political voice when decisions are made which may impact industry working practices.
Part of the Home Improvement Executive
Through his election as Chairman of the Windows and Doors Group, Mark Austin will now be involved in the GGF Home Improvement Executive. The Home Improvement Executive is the overall governing body which consists of the Conservatory Association, Consumer Management Group, Hardware Group, and the Windows and Doors Group.
The Home Improvement Executive is made up of the chairmen of the expert groups and members of GGF senior management. Together they share their expert knowledge on technical, marketing, home improvement, and membership issues to further develop and improve the glazing industry.
As a socially responsible company, Hazlemere Commercial are always looking at ways to improve industry practices. The ability to interact at the highest level with key players in the industry will help us to ensure other companies strive for the same high standards as ourselves. As a representative of Hazlemere Commercial, Mark Austin is dedicated to building a better glazing industry for businesses and consumers alike.
