During 2018 independent commercial aluminium window and doors manufacturers and installers Hazlemere Commercial were approached by Arcadis to ask if they would assist them in the preparation of a Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) bid for replacement aluminium windows and doors and their estimators visit Turves Green Primary School to measure up for a detailed quotation to include in the bid submission.
Arcadis then asked Hazlemere Commercial to undertake a window condition survey in order to highlight the genuinely awful state of the existing windows, which Hazlemere did using numerous close up photographs taken onsite. As fenestration experts with 35 years experience, Hazlemere were able to assist Arcadis and the school by undertaking a detailed survey of the existing doors and windows, giving the Condition Improvement Fund assessors both a visual and a written assessment of the problems with the failed fenestration. The CIF Bid was then submitted by Arcadis based on Hazlemere Commercial’s estimate, along with Hazlemere Commercial’s window condition survey.
The school were obviously delighted that their CIF Bid was successful, as a result Turves Green Primary School secured £420,000 worth of CIF funding to be able to replace all the windows and doors at the school that so badly needed doing. The upshot is that the new thermally broken commercial aluminium windows have massively improved the school’s teaching environment, plus enabled the school to save on heating costs, whilst at the same time upgrading their buildings security. Hazlemere Commercial manufactured and installed replacement aluminium powder coated windows in RAL 9910 Hipca, and unusually all the replacement aluminium powder coated door outer-frames in RAL 9910 Hipca Gloss White, but all the aluminium double glazed door leaves in RAL 2002 Red Gloss. The commercial aluminium double glazed fenestration products used on this project were Sapa Dualframe 75 aluminium windows, automatic sliding aluminium doors and Sapa STII high performance commercial aluminium entrance doors.
There were some challenging time management and scheduling issues with this project, as the school required that the entire window and door replacement project was installed out of school time between 16:00-21:00 each weekday. In order not to disrupt the school’s running in any way, Hazlemere Commercial agreed to also undertake some of the works during the Christmas 2019 school holidays, as well as work at weekends.
