Investors in People (IIP) recognition is a widely acclaimed certification for companies to demonstrate that they value their staff, and provide development opportunities for them, to the benefit of both job holders and the company.
Although always staff-friendly, Hazlemere Commercial realised in 2006 that there were tangible benefits in gaining IIP recognition. It firmed-up the existing system of regularly reviewing the performance, aspirations and training needs of its staff, including some who are not directly-employed; and broadening its philosophy of involving everyone with the company’s development. IIP recognition was first gained in June 2006.
Since then, the benefits of IIP recognition have become fully embraced by the company “people managers”, and everyone is reaping the benefits of regular reviews (both formal and informal), and carefully targeted training opportunities.
Hazlemere HR Manager, Michelle Hanson, said “I was a little sceptical at first, but IIP has certainly strengthened our people management skills, and provided some great opportunities for our staff. I was delighted that our recognition was renewed in 2010 and we are now looking towards achieving an enhanced IIP standard”.
