Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems, based in Mitcham in Surrey (part of the Parkside Group) is the largest British, privately owned aluminium systems company in Europe. Comar designs, extrudes and distributes over 700 integrated profiles to a nationwide approved fabricators (like Hazlemere Commercial) for use in aluminium ground floor treatment, window, door and curtain walling applications.

Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems are a Secured By Design Licence holder for their Comar 5P.i ,Comar 9P.i and Comar 7 range of windows and doors. Established in 1989, ‘Secured by Design’ (SBD) is a police initiative to encourage the building industry to design out crime, assisting in reducing the opportunity for crime and the fear of crime. SBD focuses on the design and security for new & refurbished homes, schools and commercial projects and aims to bring together the principles of designing out crime, effective crime prevention and security standards for a range of applications and products. ’Secured by Design’ is endorsed by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), and has the backing of the Home Office Crime Reduction Unit.
Due to enhanced security options on their window and door systems, Comar offers the latest crime prevention features such as anti-snap and anti-bump locking systems. On points of attack stainless steel plates and protectors ensure that with prolonged abuse/attack entry is not attained. Comar systems are certified and kite marked to the very latest security standards, and operate through a nationwide network of Approved Fabricators.
A separate Alu-Timber division of the Parkside Group, offers an aluminium and timber composite double glazing system. Alu-Timber is a range of aluminium/timber windows, doors, framing and curtain walling that combines sustainably grown FSC or PEFC timbers with 100% recyclable aluminium. The Alu-Timber range merges material solutions, timber providing thermal efficiency, aluminium the protection.
The Alu-Timber casement window and Alu-Timber Tilt & Turn double glazed window has passed BS7950 security and BS6375 weather performance at 600 Pascals. The Alu-Timber EFT system uses thermally efficient Larch timber with time tested aluminium for protection. To maximise spans and centres, a wide range of timber mullions and transoms are available. The inherent properties of timber provide 2 advantages i) high strength and ii) low U- values, ensuring the product can meet the demands of future carbon reduction plans.
