Desborough College is now a secondary school with academy status located on Shoppenhangers Road, Maidenhead, Berkshire, England. Until 2009 it was an all-boys school, however, the Sixth form has since become co-educational. Originally Desborough School, was founded as a boys grammar school over 100 years ago, and then became a Comprehensive Community School for 11-18 year old boys.
It was during it’s time as a Comprehensive Community School that Hazlemere Commercial undertook a major refurbishment programme, which included replacement of the existing sliding sash windows with new aluminium low maintenance equivalents, in order to retain the overall appearance of the building. The installation of approximately 80 windows and 4 doors was carried out during an 11-week programme, during both term-time and the school holiday period. This programme was designed to ensure minimal disruption to the day-to-day running of the school.
Hazlemere Commercial use Glostal, Monarch and Dualframe products from Sapa Building Systems. These are some of the systems of choice for the education sector with slim profiles that let in more light, material strength for two storey screens and the durability to withstand the most aggressive treatment. From primary schools to universities, our experience and the design flexibility offered by our systems ensure the optimum solution for everything from new buildings, through to Victorian refurbishments and conservation areas. Interestingly, BBC TV Dragons Den star, Peter Jones attended this school as part of his state education during his teenage years.
