Burkes Court is a very interestingly shaped, multi-faceted mixed use commercial, retail and residential property less than 2 minutes’ walk to Beaconsfield Railways Station, and seconds away from comprehensive shopping facilities, many of which it accommodates at ground level.
Following the renovation of the roof and the addition of thermally broken A energy rated aluminium casement windows during 2018, a famous property valuation website stated that in February 2019 the average property value in terms of property types, flats in Burkes Court sold for an average of £381,552 and terraced houses for £579,675.
Burkes Court is located close to the junction of Burkes Road and Station Road in the centre of Beaconsfield’s buzzing New Town. Junction 2 of the M40 motorway is approximately 2 miles away and the Chiltern Line serving London Marylebone and Birmingham is a very short walk. Public parking is available close to the building, which is set among various leisure, commercial and retail outlets. It is a landmark building as it can be seen from so many different adjacent roads, including Burkes Road, Station Road, Gregories Road and Maxwell Road.
Hazlemere Commercial were commissioned by main contractors H J Haywood and Sons Limited to survey, manufacture and install extra slim aluminium casement windows into the existing hardwood sub-frames. Hazlemere undertook this once the building had been fully scaffolded, then fabricated the white RAL 9910 Gi gloss Sapa Crown odd leg Squareline aluminium casement windows in their nearby High Wycombe factory on Cressex Business Park. Being extra slim with flat vent profiles, these highly thermally efficient aluminium windows achieve a WER of A.
Due to the unusual shape of the building (with at least 10 different elevations at different angles), the project required full height scaffold, which being over a public highway needed full pavement licences, netting, lighting and warning tape. This access equipment was essential to enable Hazlemere Commercial to be able to remove all the existing windows and replace them safely, especially as the client had chosen externally beaded aluminium windows, which have high security glazing beads which cannot be taken out without the internal gaskets first being removed.
With all the many different businesses located within Burkes Court (some of which operate 7 days a week and every evening), combined with the requirements of the apartment and terraced house owners, this refurbishment was quite a complex multi-logistical project that needed careful planning, something that during the last 25 years Hazlemere Commercial have a good working knowledge of and the necessary experience and expertise to deliver.
