Hazlemere was excited to be part of the recent modernisation of Pool In The Park, Woking, a multi-million pound investment in the leisure centre by Woking Borough Council, working with Dovetail Architects and Mountjoy.
This technically difficult project called for the expertise of our most experienced technical team to formulate the curtain walling design. The required aesthetic necessitated the production of a tricky faceted façade, including a raked head. With each facet on an individual radius and each mullion requiring specific plotting for manufacture this was just the sort of complex challenge that gets our design team enthused. The resulting façade is an interesting mix of angular lines and curved wall.
The thermally broken curtain wall product used is the Technal Elegance 52 ST and includes Technal Dualframe 75 Si top hung casement windows within the curtain walling. High performing, solar controlled glass provides 35% g value, with 70% transmittance.
Other specified products include the installation of Tormax automatic sliding doors plus E130 fire rated doors and screen. There is also a number of Technal ST2 commercial doors within the project.
Starting on site in early March 2020 obviously meant an interruption to the project programme due to COVID-19 restrictions but works began in earnest once restrictions were lifted and the community of Woking now have a first class leisure facility to enjoy.
